FAQ

Can I submit a film that has already screened at other festivals?
Yes. The Ibiza IFF does not require exclusivity or world premiere status for the main competition, though world premieres are given preference in the selection process. Films that have screened at Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sundance or other major festivals are welcome to submit.
Is my film eligible if it has been released on a streaming platform?
Films that have had a theatrical release or a major streaming release (Netflix, Amazon Prime, MUBI, etc.) before the festival dates are not eligible for the main competition. Limited streaming availability in a film's country of origin does not disqualify a film. If in doubt, contact us at submissions@ibizaiff.es.
Do I need to travel to Ibiza if my film is selected?
Attendance is strongly encouraged and adds significantly to the festival experience — for you and for your audience. However, we understand that not all filmmakers can travel, particularly those from countries with restrictive visa regimes. We offer Q&A sessions via live video link for filmmakers who cannot attend in person. Travel grants are available for directors from countries classified as developing economies; contact us for details.
How long does the selection process take?
Films submitted by any deadline will receive notification by November 2nd, provided they are submitted at least two weeks before that date. The selection committee reads every submission in full. We do not use automated pre-screening tools.
Will I receive feedback if my film is not selected?
Yes. All submitting filmmakers receive written feedback from a member of the selection committee by November 30th, 2026. Feedback is brief but substantive — we aim to tell you what we appreciated and, where appropriate, what gave us pause. We believe this is the least we can offer in exchange for the trust you place in us by submitting your work.
Can students and first-time filmmakers submit?
Absolutely. Student films and debut features are warmly welcomed. Several of our Falcó d'Or winners have been debut features, and we actively seek to programme work from filmmakers at the beginning of their careers. Student films must still meet the technical and eligibility requirements.
What happens if my film is selected? What do I need to provide?
Selected filmmakers will be contacted with a full technical requirements document. You will need to provide a screening copy (DCP for features; DCP or ProRes for shorts), press materials (stills, poster, EPK, director bio), and confirmation of your attendance or video link preference. All materials must be received by November 30th, 2026.
Is there a submission fee waiver policy?
Fee waivers are available for filmmakers from countries classified as Least Developed Countries by the United Nations, and in exceptional circumstances of genuine financial hardship. To apply for a fee waiver, email submissions@ibizaiff.es with the subject line "Fee Waiver Request" before submitting. Include your country of residence, a brief description of your film, and the reason for your request. We aim to respond within five working days.

Ibiza Pitch

The Ibiza Pitch is the festival's industry development strand, designed to connect emerging producers and directors with co-production partners, distributors, broadcasters, and development funds. Five projects are selected each year for a two-day intensive programme running alongside the competition programme.

What Participants Receive
  • Three one-on-one meetings with industry professionals
  • Public pitch session before a panel of producers and distributors
  • Full festival accreditation for director and producer
  • Script and pitch deck assessment by a development consultant
  • Eligibility for the Ibiza Pitch Prize: €5,000 + distribution meeting
  • Listing in the festival programme and press materials
Eligibility

Projects must be in development (not yet in production). Feature films and feature documentaries only. A script or detailed treatment must be available. The director must be attached to the project. Previous winners may not resubmit the same project.

How to Apply

Applications for Ibiza Pitch 2026 are open via FilmFreeway. Projects submitted to the main competition are automatically considered for the lab — there is no separate application fee. The deadline for Ibiza Pitch submissions is September 29, 2026. For enquiries contact pitch@ibizaiff.es.
